Next Generation NCLEX-style practice uses more than traditional multiple choice. Our practice player supports eleven presentation formats so you can get comfortable with each interaction before exam day.
The formats
- Single choice — choose one best answer.
- Select all that apply (SATA) — choose every option that fits.
- Extended multiple response — a longer list where several options apply.
- Ordered response — put steps in the correct sequence.
- Numeric entry — type a number, paying attention to the unit requested.
- Hotspot — choose an area on an image or labelled diagram (a keyboard-friendly list is always available).
- Matrix / grid — make a choice for every row.
- Drop-down cloze — complete sentences using drop-down menus.
- Drag-and-drop cloze — place answer tokens into blanks (with an accessible select alternative).
- Bow-tie — choose the likely condition, the actions to take and the parameters to monitor.
- Highlight / hot text — select the phrases in a note that matter.
Scoring is not one-size-fits-all
Different formats can award partial credit in different ways. Some use all-or-nothing scoring, some award a point per correct response, and some subtract points for incorrect selections (never going below zero). Every result screen tells you which policy was used, so you understand your score.
A note on readiness
Practice scores describe how you performed on our questions. They are not an official NCLEX pass prediction, and our diagnostics are fixed-form practice tests, not computerized adaptive testing.
