Editorial standards

How our questions and guides are written, reviewed, published and corrected.

Review workflow

  1. Draft. A content creator writes the item, rationale and references against the current NCSBN test plan.
  2. Editorial review. A second person checks clarity, format, scoring key and bias. Authors cannot review their own work.
  3. Clinical review. A qualified clinical reviewer checks accuracy and safety, and records review notes.
  4. Publish. A publisher releases the reviewed version. Every version is kept, so changes can be compared and rolled back.

Provisional content

While our library is being built, some material may be published as provisional before clinical review is complete. Provisional material is always labelled, is never described as clinically certified, and is replaced or withdrawn once review finishes.

Corrections

If you spot an error, please tell us. We review reports promptly, and corrected items are re-versioned so past results stay accurate.
